What have you seen on a job resume that made your jaw drop?

Joey, on a job application I was reviewing under the heading of “List your personal traits and assets that will help you if you are hired” was the following (as best as I can remember). The young lady listed her measurements. She stressed that t were all natural. She indicated she did not have a problem traveling or sharing a room to save on traveling expenses. She would “bend over backwards” for the right position. She felt comfortable working irregular hours on or “off” the working premises. She had no problem working either under a male or female boss. Needless to say I immediately wrote in red ink “HIRE IMMEDIATELY” and put it in the out box, knowing full well that our VP of Human Resources, a woman BTW, would be in my office before the end of the day. She did come in before closing and said to me “You've GOT to be kidding me right”. I was silent for awhile, then we both burst out in hysterical laughter. We had that application framed and it hung in my office till I retired. The HR VP then took possession of it and proudly put it in her office. That was over 16 years ago and I often wonder where that plaque is now, but more importantly, what that young lady is doing today. Mick

Mick is not the only one, but this is the kind of thing you expect to hear when discussing sexism and misogyny. Mick gets comments along the lines of, “He would work irregular hours, not on the job, but off the job.” “He is clearly a creep”. “There simply could be nothing 'different' there.” Some people might see Mick and say, “Who cares?” I hope my story is a good example of when, and why, it does, and is, very important to discuss workplace sexism. If you have heard of a company making a hiring decision with the intention of keeping people separate and separate, without respect for their differences, you may not be a fan of that particular company, but at this point, it is so far beyond any normal boundaries, you have to start making some changes. This could be changing your company policy, or.
